Inside Lucky 8 — warm lanterns and the lucky cat
Our story

Welcome to Lucky 8

A pan-Asian small-plates bar with a lucky cat watching over it — two venues, two cities, one lucky number. Small plates from $8.88.

The idea

Not just a restaurant.
A big night out.

Born from the Mr Hao team, Lucky 8 started up a black stairway in Ponsonby — exposed brick, warm wood, red leather, neon and a lucky cat over the bar. It’s built to be the start of the night, not just a meal.

We do pan-Asian small plates, made to share — order three or four each. Dishes start from $8.88, the lucky number, not a flat price. Eight’s lucky, and a proper feast shouldn’t mean watching the bill.

In their words
“It just kept coming till the whole table was full.”
“A vibe that makes you want to come back.”
“For $8.88, why not?”
“The vibe of the whole place is immaculate.”
